Why

The CALM MUMMY METHOD?

"CREATING METHOD IN THE MAYHEM"

Hi, I'm Charlotte, the creator of The CALM MUMMY METHOD

I don't know your mental health story, (though I'd love to hear it - email me anytime!) but mine started with OCD from the age of 4 and full-blown depression from the age of 18 onwards.  My mental health suffered badly after becoming a mother and I am always looking for ways to cope better and make sense of my life, my role as a parent and my mental health.

I love being a mummy and Milo and Lally are my life in many ways.  But as a wife, mother, freelance writer, vintage clothes trader, massage therapist and volunteer for Cancer Research, it has to be said that it all leaves little time for the day-to-day necessities such as getting dressed!  (I used to grab the nearest item on the floor and throw it on).  Nor does it leave much room for caring for my home, (a never-ending job with children around), meal planning, playtime or...well...Me!

We ideally need some kind of routine in our life to feel content and have a clear head but in all the kerfuffle of demand and requirement, how do we create that?  How do we find the space we need to mentally and emotionally deflate and let go for a little while? I love the busy-ness of my life, but over the years I have been investigating different methods for each area of it, to help me get to grips with what is a necessity and what is an ingrained habit; what is my OCD and what is genuinely important; and what will help me to be the best version of me I can be each day with less stress, less anxiety, less fear of getting 'behind' whilst also feeling a sense of satisfaction or a job well done at the end of the day.

And after many, many, MANY experiments, rewrites, failures, attempts, shifts, changes and ideas I invite you in to try the results...

How To Use The CALM MUMMY METHOD.
It's a free blog filled with ideas, tips, tricks, plus schedules and planners for those amongst you who love a checklist.

To be clear though, this method is not about you being supplied with lists of every area, room or item in your home which could do with a scrub.  You know as well I do what needs cleaning in your home - and that is EVERYTHING!  Some areas need weekly doing and others can be done once a month!

This method is designed to take the pressure off of you...this doesn't need to be about more lists.  It just gives you a simple outline with tips and ideas and then assumes that you know what you did last week and therefore what needs doing the following.  For example, if you did the downstairs last Make It Shine Monday, then do the upstairs this week.  Some weeks I may focus on shining up the corners and skirting boards, and other weeks I may focus on more general surfaces such as the sideboards and picture frames.

Love
Charlotte
