Calm Kitchen: Calm Breakfasts For An Easy Morning

Writer's picture: The Calm MummyThe Calm Mummy

If you are anything like us, mornings can be a little bit frantic so an easy way of helping with this is to pre-make breakfasts. Food prepping is something which has really taken off in recent months, and now it is no longer just for those watching their weight or prepping for a weight lifting show, but for everyone! And it can really speed things up and save us us parents precious minutes each day.

3 Minute Wraps

A wrap can be frozen and reheated in minutes and will be a lovely hot, filling breakfast for you and the children each day especially when coming into winter. It can have a variety of fillings so each day can be different, and you can either make your own wraps or use ones pre-bought from the shop.

Whether you are vegetarian, vegan or a meat eater, pre-made wraps are the perfect breakfast.

How To Create These Delicious Calm Morning Wraps

The wraps

  1. 400g self raising flour

  2. 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  3. 300ml warm water

  4. 3 tablespoons of virgin olive oil

  • Bring the flour and salt together in a bowl and the water and oil in a measuring jug.

  • Stir together adding the liquid slowly and mix well to form a dough.

  • Flour the work surface and knead the dough.

  • Break up into around 8 balls and rolls out.

  • Place a teaspoon of oil in a frying pan and fry each tortilla for 1 minute on each side.

  • As you are doing this, place sausages (vegetarian/vegan or pork) and/or bacon under the grill. For 8 wraps you will need about 16 sausages (you may prefer chipolatas) and 12+ bacon rashers which can be cut up into smaller pieces once cooked.

Added Extras

Fry up some onions or mushrooms and scramble some egss (about 10-12 for 8 wraps) or any other extras you would like to include such as baked beans or hash browns.

Healthy Alternatives

Try spinch, scrambled egg, black beans and rice plus lots of ground pepper.

Wrap your fillings up in your home made or shop bought wraps and place into a clear plastic, reusable bag and once cooled, place in the freezer overnight.

To reheat, defrost for around 5 minutes on a 900w microwave. Check it is fully defrosted before heating for 30 to 60 seconds to ensure everything is fully heated through.

Give a quick spritz of salt and pepper, wrap the bottom in foil or kitchen roll to protect little fingers (and mummy's!) and enjoy.

Quick and easy!
