I love a fully stocked fridge. It makes me feel so good to think that my food shop is sorted for the week; meals are planned and I'm ready to go with breakfasts, lunchboxes, healthy (and not so healthy) snacks and dinners for 4 people for 7 days.
But seriously, buying all those items and lugging them up to my level 2 aprtment (albeit via the lift) with a 2 year old refusing to carry even a toilet roll is not my idea of a good time.

This morning I sat down first thing and wrote my list for the week. Large packs of mince (turkey and beef) so I can make chilli, bolognaise, baked potato toppings etc and batch them up to freeze so dinner is made easy each evening. Sauages, bacon, eggs and onions for morning breakfast wraps, again frozen and ready to defrost first thing for an up-early hubby and a slow-moving son.
Buying all those items with a 2 year old in hand who is refusing to carry even a toilet roll is not my idea of a good time.
I love to shop in a way which makes the food last a week rather shopping at great expense each day for that night's meal; but it's not always possible unless I plan ahead, (and as an aside, the savings I make by doing so are unbelievable).
But going out and actually doing a great big shop like that drives me mad and hinders my choices as I panic about how to carry it all upstairs. So this morning, list in hand, I logged on to the Asda, website, placed each item into the serach box and ordered them, ticking them off as I went. The shop was ordered in 15 minutes. I didn't buy things I didn't need. The toddler didn't scream all the way round the shop becasue I've crammed her chubby little legs into the trolley seat and because I am refusing to buy her every sparkly item her hearts desires (in fact she was in her creche at the time and I did my whole shop in peace with a cuppa...bliss!)
Now, it will be delivered to me tomorrow between 8am and 10am, ready for the week ahead... I won't have to pick up a single carrot, wait in a single queue, be inches away from being crashed into by an impatient supermarket car park driver, or deal with a grumpy Saturday boy or girl with a hangover.

I go through phases where I quite like the idea of Doing The Shop...but frankly I overspend which stresses me (and hubby) out, I get stuck in the town traffic, I have to carry it myself (horrifying), and I forget my bags for life and spend £5 on new ones which go in the ever explanding bag for life cupbaord (it used to be a bag of bags...now it is scaling up secretly, preparing to take over the corner of the kitchen without me really noticing it's happening...like Donald Trump).
By getting into a routine of ordering online so I'm always a day ahead and never fully out of everything and waiting a day for my shop every Monday with nothing but three beans in the cupboard, then everything is done for me. It is like having my own Personal Assistant; they bring it all in and I simply organise it how I like it/need it.

I have no doubt many of you have tried home delivery shopping before, but if not or you are umming and ahing over it, then I highly recommend it as it really will ease your anxious mummy mind and it plays a big role in The CALM MUMMY METHOD. Who doesn't love to everything done for them?
You can also pay £24 for a year of free deliveries with Asda (which is my supermarket of choice due to the prices but I'm sure the others have similar deals). Peak time delivery can be £4 or more so after 5 weeks you have made your money back!
I also use sites such as Top Cash Back to earn money back when I shop at Asda and you can earn £6 at the moment on your first delivery shop with them... which is always nice when you are buying something that you were going to buy anyway!
Let me know how you get on and if you prefer delegating the food shop over at The_Calm_Mummy_Method instagram acount
